When Jackie Simoni used to walk her super friendly 84
pound Golden Retriever he would drag her over to say hello to just about
anybody they met on their walk. Once he knocked over a toddler by wagging
his tail. To avoid another mishap, Jackie decided to walk at night when
there were no older people or infants around. She walked without a
flashlight at first but slipped on sheets of ice, sprained her ankle running
off the road to avoid a car, and her dog picked up dead animals and cans she
didn’t see. So she started to carry a flashlight, but the flashlight was
heavy and inconvenient and her arm would swing up and down and not focus the
light forward. She was also carrying a poop bag, a leash and a dog
repellent. When she looked down at her dog, who didn’t have a care in the
world, she thought, “You could help and carry the flashlight.” Then she
thought, “You know, that’s not a bad idea. Now if I can just find one small
enough and flat enough…”
