Michael Wood worked long hours building a successful software company with
his business partner Adam Forbes. He managed over 100 employees, and
commuted between New York and London nearly every week. When he became
over-stressed, lost weight and his blood pressure went up he knew he had to
find a way to control his stress.
He tried several unsuccessful ways to relieve stress
including therapy, pills, and yoga, but he got worse instead of better.
After a panic attack during a presentation, Michael
decided to put his scientific background to good use. He was already a
successful inventor, so he began a full-time study of the biological cause
of stress in an effort to find a solution to the problem.
His research convinced him that Nature intended us to face
our stressful activities and challenges during the day and then to relax at
night to recuperate and recharge for the day ahead. He also learned that the
key to stress management is to synchronize your breathing with the activity
of your nervous system.
Six months later, he had an innovative idea for reversing
the root cause of stress and after discussing his discovery with his friend
Adam they had a plan. While Michael focused on the core technology and
algorithms behind the
Stress
Eraser, Adam focused on building a product that would be both easy to
use and socially acceptable. Typical medical-grade biofeedback systems
generally cost thousands of dollars and require a person to be attached to a
computer. Michael and Adam chose to create a unit that would be affordable,
self-contained, portable and had no external wires or leads to attach.
The result is a sleek brushed metal 3 ¾" x 2 ½" device
that fits into a thin black leather case that fits discretely into a pocket
or purse, yet has the power to alleviate stress wherever you go!
The Stress Eraser was awarded the Frost and Sullivan 2006
Technology Innovation Award and has been well received by the medical
community. It is a welcome solution to emotional agitation.
